2nd Australian Mango Research Symposium

The 2^nd Australian Mango Research Symposium will be delivered alongside the Australian Mango Conference, held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on May 10 to 13, 2027.

The Symposium aims to showcase the latest advances in Australian mango research, strengthen collaboration between researchers and industry, and identify future research priorities for the sector.

The Australian mango industry is well supported by mango researchers from various government agencies, universities and other service providers across Australia. The symposium provides a great opportunity to foster communication and collaboration between researchers to deliver high quality scientific research that adds value and benefits Australian mango growers.

This event is a great opportunity for the mango research community to share their latest research, exchange ideas, strengthen professional networks and initiate new collaborations. It is also a great opportunity to share ideas for new research with mango growers and the broader industry. Connection with growers and fellow researchers will be a feature and a dedicated researchers lounge will be available for more in-depth discussions.

Call for topics and abstracts

We would like to hear your ideas and concepts for both oral and poster presentations.

Fields of research you may wish to present include the following theme areas:

Mango breeding and variety trials
Plant physiology and development biology
Domestic market and export development
Post-harvest management, value chains, industry and market development
Pests, diseases and Integrated Pest Management
Mango flowering and fruit drop
Ecophysiology, climate interactions, and plant health under abiotic and biotic stress
Mango quality and consumer trends
Future mango orchard systems
New technologies and adaptability to the mango industry

We are trying to avoid being descriptive and we would also welcome left field topics from mango or other industries.

We particularly encourage proposals that have a focus on opportunities for the mango industry and will contribute to the short and long-term profitability of Australian mango growers.

How do I take part in the Australian Mango Research Symposium?

To begin, please submit topics/working titles by Friday 30th October, 2026 and then follow up with an abstract by Friday 12th February, 2027.

Individuals and groups are invited to submit preliminary intended topics/titles for consideration, with names of authors and preferred presentation style (oral or poster) and a brief description (short paragraph/few lines) of the research area.

We are requesting early submissions of your topics/working titles for us to begin advertising the Australian Mango Research Symposium and maximise attendance by growers and fellow researchers.

Abstracts

You are invited to submit a 150-200 word abstract that captures the essence of your research, all proposals should include:

Title.
Name(s) of author(s) and institutional affiliation.
Contact details.
Brief bio or LinkedIn handle.
Please indicate whether your proposal is for a presentation or poster (or both).

Your abstract should also include:

What challenge or opportunity is being addressed?
What are you doing?
Why are you doing it?
Outcomes for industry (actual or forecast)
What future opportunities or research directions does it create?
