Mango Orchard Map - Support the National Mapping Project

As part of the national mapping project (AS23000), Australian Mangoes is working with the University of New England’s Applied Agricultural Remote Sensing Centre (AARSC) to improve the accuracy and value of the Australian Tree Crop Map (ATCM).

This next phase focuses on developing a secure, block-level map that will be accessible only to the Australian Mangoes team.

We need your help.

To support this important work, please send a recent farm map/s from your farming mapping app.

  • Type: PDF, photos, screenshots or KML file
  • Ideally showing: block boundaries, number of trees, variety, planting date, etc.

📩 Email your map to: marine@mangoes.net.au

This information will help build a more accurate map of mango orchards, which will support:

  • Yield forecasting - enabling the development of regional forecasting models to support better planning, marketing, and logistics.
  • Biosecurity preparedness - supporting faster, more targeted responses to pest or disease incursions.
  • Emergency response to events like floods and cyclones –allowing us to overlay weather data with orchard locations to assess potential damage and support applications for government assistance.
  • Market access - helping delimit potential pest-free areas to support trade with domestic and international markets.

Don’t have a map?

No problem! Contact your Industry Development Officer (IDO) who will assist you in creating one using our GIS mapping tool. They’ll work with you to outline your farm blocks and include key details and you’ll receive a professional map of your property, which you can keep for your own planning and records.

Know of any abandoned orchards?

We are also interested in identifying and mapping abandoned mango orchards. If you are aware of any abandoned or unmanaged mango trees in your region, please let us know.

We appreciate your assistance and contributions to making the mango industry more informed and resilient.
