The Australian Mango Industry Association (AMIA) is pleased to announce the release of its mobile phone app to help growers manage chemical application and facilitate trade. The Mango MRLs App provides information on maximum residue limits (MRLs) and withholding periods (WHPs) for both domestic and export markets. With an easy-to-use interface, AMIA members will be able to search for the chemicals registered for use on specific target pests and diseases.
“Breaches of MRLs not only threaten the reputation of individual businesses, but it also damages Australia’s reputation as a clean and safe supplier of fresh product and can jeopardise trade and existing market access,” said Marine Empson, AMIA’s Industry Development Manager.
The Mango MRLs app has been developed in partnership with the Australian Wine Research Institute (AWRI) and the Australian Table Grape Association (ATGA) to help industry members comply with MRLs in export markets. AMIA staff will review MRL changes on a weekly basis and update WHP recommendations in response to new information as it becomes available.
The Mango MRL App is now available to download for free on Apple and Android devices. Access to the Mango MRLs app is restricted to AMIA members only. If you wish to become a member, please visit the Australian Mangoes website.
